3 Reasons 2007 PEV Won’t Be Repeated

Many are worried about a recurrence of violence during or after the elections next week on Monday. But, we think otherwise! And these are the three reasons why we believe that this elections will be Kenya’s most peaceful ever!

A Strong Judiciary

Everybody respects Mutunga and the reforms that he has achieved at the Judiciary. Every presidential candidate TRUSTS him to handle their petitions quickly and fairly. But 2007/2008, that trust was not there. So, the politicians resorted to use the courts of the streets with their supporters as judge and jury! The result is a well documented historical catastrophe!

The incumbent is not in the ballot

Well, whenever an incumbent is vying, all the opponents stand convinced that they will use instruments of power to tilt the scales to their favor. When you look at the history of electoral violence, this is the map: 1992, incumbent was vying, there was electoral related violence; 1997, the incumbent was in the ballot and so did election related violence rear its ugly head; then, we come to 2002, the most peaceful elections yet and do note the incumbent was missing in the ballot. We don’t have to remind you of 2007!! Then, these matters are usually compounded by the notion that African powermen NEVER lose in elections.
These are the facts that bring things to a stand whenever an incumbent is vying. And, all these factors are lacking in the March 4th polls. With that, we believe there will be no election related violence.

Everyone is against violence

We are yet to meet a person who does not fear a repeat of 2007/2008 horrors! We are yet to meet a person who is intent in fighting the neighbor because of elections results! You know, Kenya Ni Jina tu, Nchi ni Wewe na Mimi. If you won’t throw a stone or lift a machete, who will? If you don’t loot a shop because of elections results, no one will!
So, there goes the reason for our confidence! This is going to be the most peaceful elections in the history of Kenya because all the stars have aligned! God is with us, the citizens have also resolved so no one can reign violence!

I have been browsing online more than 3 hours nowadays, yet I by no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It’s pretty price enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made just right content material as you probably did, the internet will likely be a lot more helpful than ever before.
